MEMBERSHIP – Humber Community Division

When you purchase your YMCA membership you help continue to strengthen our programs and services.  We are more than just a gym.

The Humber Community YMCA is a partnership of volunteers and staff dedicated to promoting the success of individuals, families and communities by offering YMCA programs that build strength in spirit, mind and body.

YMCA Programs are based on Core Values: Respect, Honesty, Responsibility, Caring, Inclusion.

To become a Y Member please note the following:

  1. Your Government issued photo ID’s *(required)
  2. A void cheque /auto-withdrawal form, or Credit Card form at time of sign up for a continuous membership. *(required)
  3. Payments for continuous memberships will be withdrawn on the first of every month.
  4. Cancellations cannot be taken over the phone and they must be in writing.
  5. Credit Card information cannot be taken over the phone.

1 Week Pass $25.00 – non transferable and expires after 7 days
2 Week Pass $35.00 – non transferable and expires after 14 days

*Family – includes 2 adults (parents/guardians) and 3 dependent children, living in the same household,  up to the age of 19.  Exceptions will be given to full-time students up to the age of 23 (current student ID required).  (see age restrictions regarding children)
*Buddy/Couples – Available on Continuous memberships ONLY, 1 of the 2 members MUST be 19 years of age or older, can be members from 2 separate households and continuous payment will only be accepted from 1 of the 2 members.

Method of Payment
The YMCA accepts payment by cash, cheque, Master Card, Visa and Pre-authorized debit. Payments may be made in full upon registration or in monthly installments (Credit Card or Pre-authorized debit). If you require alternate payment plans please complete a request application and submit to our front desk.

Refund Policies
All refunds on membership programs are subject to a $20 administration fee. Refund requests must be made in writing and be accompanied by your membership card and appropriate documentation. Cancellation forms are available at the Front Desk. Refunds will not be issued on Specialty Programs after the start date without valid medical certification.

Membership Hold
The YMCA will place a membership on hold for medical reasons and for special circumstances. This maybe done retroactively and requires a doctor’s note. Holds may also be provided for special circumstances. Consult our front desk for details.

Membership Card
You are required to scan your valid membership card every time you use the facilities. This helps us to maintain building security and ensure the safety of you and your belongings.

Orientation
We encourage you to try weight training as a part of your exercise regime. You may book an orientation with one of our front desk staff to learn how to weight train safely and effectively. It will take about one hour and will be provided by a YMCA Canada trained staff or volunteer.  Please remember to bring indoor sneakers to your orientation.

Age Restrictions

Children under the age of 10 years of age are NOT permitted in the Cross Training Center.

All youth ages 10 – 15 must have a signed consent form and an orientation.

10 & 11 year olds MUST be CLOSELY SUPERVISED by an adult at all times (the adult assumes FULL responsibility for the youth).

12-15 years are allowed in the health and wellness center alone once we have the signed consent form and they have had their orientation.

16-17 year olds must have a walk through with a staff member before entering alone.

Locker Room Protocol
Lockers are available to members and participants while they are using the facility. Please lock all valuables or if possible do not bring them into the Y. You may use lockers only while you are in the building. Locks left overnight will be removed; contents can be recovered by checking the front desk. Please leave gym bags and other personal items in locker room.  Please DO NOT bring gym bags and backpacks in to the Cross Training Centre.  Food and drinks are not permitted in the locker room.

The YMCA is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

Sponsored Memberships
The YMCA wants everyone to have the opportunity to participate in Health and Wellness Programs. Financial aid is available to those who need assistance.  Contact our Administrator of HR and Programs for more information at 639-1812.

Member Etiquette
The YMCA is a shared experience for everyone to enjoy. Members, staff and volunteers pledge to treat each other with respect and treat the facility and equipment in a responsible manner. Please follow the posted etiquette guidelines.
